Butter-Braised Radishes

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil

  • 1 lb. radishes

  • salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1/4 cup of broth or white wine

  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • fresh parsley

Over medium heat, combine the butter and oil in a large skillet. When the butter melts, add the radishes and cook, stirring, until they are coated with butter. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in the remaining ingredients, except the parsley, then cover. Turn the heat to low and cook until the radishes are barely tender, about 5 minutes.

Uncover and raise the heat to medium high. Cook, stirring, until the radishes are glazed and the liquid is syrupy. Taste to adjust seasoning. garnish with minced parsley leaves and serve.
